What about snow loads?
Have you tested these toppers in extreme subzero temperatures?
if so, what were the results?
- We've sent many up to Canada where they've been in -20 F
and have had no problems that we've heard of. We've personally
used our Softopper high in the Rockies at -25 F and it was always
fine. You might have to be more careful with the window material
in very very extreme temperatures when rolling it up, as it gets
very stiff when it's cold. The aluminum and high quality automotive
grade convertible top fabric is fine in the snow.
How much snow can a softopper handle without being damaged?
We sometimes have as much as a foot of snow in a few hours.
- We've had a pile on ours here in Colorado (photo) but if
you had a lot of heavy wet snow, I wouldn't want it to pile up
too high. It would get pretty heavy, and may possibly damage
the frame, although we have never had a complaint in this regard
even from any of our Alaskan customers.
